The death of Jesus represents the greatest love story ever told, as recorded in the Holy Bible. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry, and showed the world how to love. His ultimate act of unconditional love was performed on the cross at Calvary – The Finished Work of Christ. According to John 19:30, “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, it is finished: and He bowed His head and gave up the ghost.” Through the death of Christ, all of mankind is extended a special invitation to accept the Lord and gain eternal life.

Jesus is the Answer for the World

Every child born in this world inherits a sinful nature through Adam and Eve’s disobedience of God’s commandment and law, which is explained in the third chapter of the book of Genesis. The relationship between God and mankind was broken . . . Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God . . .” Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Christ paid the penalty for all sin when He died and shed His blood on the cross.

Christ took our place at the judgment seat; crucifying hatred, jealousy, lying, fear, anxiety, lust, sickness, and much more. Through the death of Jesus — sin and the grave were defeated for all nations and people throughout the world. This is a mystery that can only be received and believed by faith. Thank God for mercy and grace!

The Plan of Salvation is Great News

The resurrection of Jesus denotes the finish work of Christ. When we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior we receive eternal life – what a blessing! God wants us to have an abundant life now, and in the life to come with Him in heaven. Paul preached the plan of salvation and redemption in the book of Acts. Acts 2:2 reports, “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Acts 2:38 says, “Then Peter said unto them Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:40 declares, “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” The plan of salvation is good news – because it’s “Free.”

As outlined in the entire book of Acts and Romans, all who believe can be set free forever. Jesus is not on the cross and He is not in the grave, but waiting to live in our hearts. The finish work of Calvary is for everyone!
